Six months down!

Not too long ago, if someone would have told me I would survive without Kelly for six months I would have laughed in their face. It's amazing how you can just keep going when you have to.

The kids are still doing great, Julia is doing wonderfully in school and soccer, and Kenneth still comtinues to brighten the day of anyone he comes in contact with.

Can't wait, in 6 more weeks Kelly will be home for R&R for 15 days. He managed to get his R&R when Julia will be out of school for the holidays, so it will be great they can take their breaks at the same time.

Crazy Hat Day

It's Red Ribbon Week at Julia's school. Each day there has been a new theme - for example yesterday was crazy socks day. Well, today was crazy hat day. I bought a cheap hat at target and we hot glued some stones on it. Well maybe the hat isn't "crazy" but hey it's really cute!

Time Off For Good Behavior

Hello all from the sunny desert! I recently got a chance to get off base and go see the town. Here are the "Old Souqs" or old markets. Really amazing, hundreds and hundreds of little shops selling everything from clothes, bread, groceries, toys, to tourist items.

Even can take a ride on a donkey evidently for the kids...
Here is the amazing skyline from the beach at the hotel. All this was built in like the last 10 years....

McDonalds, and yes they sell the "Royale with Cheese" because they use the metric system.

Its amazing what billions of dollars of oil money will do for a little country, five story mall with ice rink in the middle of the desert anyone?

I went shopping for some real Persian Rugs. Can't buy these in the states, so it is a real opportunity. These are hand made, and are just stunning. The more silk versus wool thread means the more detailed and light sensitive, and also much more expensive. Even at the huge discount we can get because we knew the guy, they will still cost over $5,000 for the high quality 100% silk in 6x9'. But, they last forever and you pass them onto your children. Just couldn't see walking on something that costs that much...

Well, hope everyone there is doing well, I'm officially halfway done now if I subtract my 2 weeks of R&R time around Christmas from my 365 days. Can't wait to see Denise, the kids and all of you.
Love,
Kelly

Consider this...

Studies indicate that the average preschooler laughs 400 - 500 times PER DAY. By the time people are adults, they only laugh 7-15 times a day!

Hey you grownups, time to lighten up! We can learn so much from kids!

Kafeyan Family Luncheon

Everyone all together
Proud grandpa
Love the smiling faces

We got the Kafeyan side of the family (well at least the ones that live in Fresno/Clovis/Kerman at any rate) together for lunch at Red Robin on Saturday. It was great to see everyone!
I had forgot how good the food was at Red Robin. Darice and I spent lots of time agonizing over what to get. It was yummy!

Julia's 1st 100 piece puzzle

She has been hard at work since yesterday. She even got up at 6:30 this morning to work on it before school. Now she is home from school. Can anyone guess what Julia is doing right now? ;)
